Site Reliability Engineer

Job Introduction

The SRE will have experience as a senior developer, knowledge of Linux and a general idea of infrastructure. Experience as a systems administrator or equivalent is a bonus, but software development skills and Linux knowledge are key.

As an SRE you’ll be responsible for running code and infrastructure in production, using software development techniques for the infrastructure, build systems, pipelines, tooling, and performance/problem solving in production.

Key Responsibilities and tasks:

  • Maintain, patch, refine and extend existing infrastructure
  • Design and implement new infrastructure as required
  • Maintain and develop terraform code
  • Maintain and develop build systems & pipelines
  • Ensure software systems are as up to date as possible
  • Peer review code and have code per reviewed
  • Communicate clearly with Software development and Product teams
  • Maintain and extend our monitoring, metrics, and alerting systems
  • Support applications in production, both performance and reliability
  • Support development team with internal tooling
  • Take part in out of hours on-call rota

Role Responsibility

The SRE will be able to demonstrate experience/knowledge of the following

  • Software development practices/design patterns, debugging, and performance tuning at a senior level
  • Supporting Linux-based production systems – any distro (we use CentOS)
  • Database design/performance tuning
  • A desire to build infrastructure, deployment pipelines, and support applications in production
