Junior Web Designer/Developer

Job Introduction

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone starting out in their career to support the management of the eCommerce website, utilizing their skills in HTML, CSS, Photoshop and copy writing.

This role will be primarily supporting the Group Digital Experience Manager to develop, implement and manage the eCommerce website strategy for the Customer Marketing Team. Your key focus will be managing the front-end design, content, and improving performance to maximize eCommerce sales and revenues.

Role Responsibility

  • Using CMS to create, manage and optimize the customers digital experience, ensuring website is always up-to-date and relevant for the customer, including but not limited to, ensuring all product information is relevant and enticing, building new customer journeys, implementing promotional campaigns and daily offer checking
  • Monitoring the site performance and user behavior on the website through tools such as Heatmapping, Session recording and Google Analytics, to identify optimisation opportunities
  • Supporting with feeding into and implementing the AB testing plan to improve key KPI’s such as engagement rate, add to basket CTR, conversion rate and site speed. 
  • Supporting with the Abandonment strategy and platform.  Including, but not limited to; creating the strategy, working with the agency to implement, ensuring journey aligns with rest of site and upward reporting of performance and recommendations
  • Working with the wider Customer Marketing Team to ensure site supports their strategies and requirements. Ensuring their customer journeys/landing pages are up to date and optimized
  • Assisting with onsite development when required
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest web design and UI/UX trends and developments
  • Monitoring competitor activity/strategies and feeding back insights and ideas

The Ideal Candidate

  • HTML/CSS – Creating responsive and engaging content in the CMS using HTML when necessary. Ability to control styling/layouts for landing pages/web content using CSS
  • Adobe Photoshop - Ability to produce stunning, engaging banners/imagery
  • Management of Magento or similar CMS systems – Using the website CMS daily to update and maintain the website
  • Google Analytics – Analyzing website activity and user behavior on a daily/weekly/monthly basis via Google Analytics and other analytical tools to identify areas of opportunity for optimization
  • Organization – Ability to manage multiple projects and work streams at one time
  • Planning and Execution – Ability to plan and prioritize workload effectively and execute projects successfully
  • Communication – Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills with internal and external teams
  • Strong attention to detail – Carrying out thorough checks on the site to ensure the site looks and functions correctly. Includes site/functionality errors, spelling/grammar mistakes etc.
  • SEO – Understanding of SEO and Google’s best practices

Desired skills and how these are demonstrated:

  • AB testing – Understanding testing processes and the ability to carry this out from start to finish.
  • User Experience – Have a good understanding of what a good user experience is, UX processes, best practices, UX laws and user behaviors.
  • jQuery – Demonstrate the ability to create new functionalities unassisted on the site using jQuery script
  • Empathy – User-centric design and ideas. Understanding the users’ goals, pain points when looking at user behavior and optimization
