Digital Audio Data Analyst

The Role

Bauer Media Audio are on a mission to to make our listeners’ world sound better. Insight and Data Analytics play an integral role in achieving our vision to be a global audio pioneer. This is a new role within Bauer Audio’s Central Digital Team and will work closely with wider teams such as ‘Commercial’, ‘Editorial’ and ‘Data Science & Analytics’. You will report to our Head of Audience Insight & Intelligence.

You will be responsible for promoting and delivering data-driven responses to strategic opportunities across the global Digital Audio business. You will support teams across the 8 markets to aid understanding of performance and improve customer experience on digital products. You will use your knowledge and experience in data strategy to identify new approaches to creating value from the use of data.

Role Responsibility

Insight & Analysis

  • Organise, extract and analyse data from multiple sources and points of view, looking for insights that highlight issues or opportunities.
  • Build and maintain dashboards to enable the business to monitor and manage business objectives e.g. Looker, Tableau, Power BI
  • Evaluate performance across markets and develop understanding of customer value (e.g. identifying priority customers/user groups, developing appropriate KPIs etc)
  • Undertake and deliver analytics projects of scale while managing smaller adhoc queries (e.g. audience deep dives, product user journeys and consumption analysis)
  • Use analytical tools to create reports, test hypotheses, derive insights, build business cases, define business challenges, create segments/audiences and identify trends.
  • Analyse results of A/B tests and use other causal methodologies
  • Build on market knowledge to identify value creation opportunities within from the use of data
  • Leverage our analytics expertise across markets to help define and execute the BMA-wide strategy

                            

Collaboration

  • Supporting the product teams working across digital platforms (e.g., mobile, web and smart speakers) to provide insight into customer usage and how to improve experiences
  • Work with editorial and commercial teams to help support strategic thinking and decision making
  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders to identify where data analytics can add value
  • Collaborate with Content, Marketing, Commercial and Product teams and use these relationships to help scope projects.
  • Be the liason between Bauer Media’s central data infrastructure team and the wider Audio business, responsible for the briefing into and prioritisation of Audio data projects

Communication

  • Help visualise data and present it in a meaningful way to non-technical stakeholders
  • Advise the wider Digital team on the development of pilots to test innovative ways of capturing or using data
  • Comfortable working and communicating requirements to Engineers, Data Scientists, or other Analysts 

The Ideal Candidate

  • Passion for data
  • Understanding of value creation opportunities from use of data
  • Possess a high level of commercial acumen
  • Comfortable embracing ambiguity, thrive in a start-up environment whilst able to navigate a large matrix organisation
  • Resilience under pressure and at your best when there are lots of moving parts
  • Experience working successfully with senior management
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts and issues to non-experts
  • A good understanding of digital media products is desirable

Skills and Qualifications

  • Demonstrable experience in a Data Analyst role, preferably in digital products where you have shown the value of data and your insights have impacted decision making.
  • Expert knowledge of data tools such as Looker or Tableau
  • Proven experience of delivering impactful insight with interactive visualisations
  • Effective communication skills with ability to simplify complexity for non-data oriented colleagues
  • Extensive experience in data mining  and strong SQL skills for extracting or querying data
  • Able to understand various data structures and common methods in data transformation

Practical Examples

  • Create dashboards that effectively monitor performance and bring deeper understanding of customer behaviour via IP
  • Deep dive into specific audience segments to guide the development of BMA’s digital content strategy across markets
  • Analyse data to investigate audience journeys across device to inform Product teams and improve digital experiences
