Working in Bauer Media Group's Digital business, Xcel, your role in the Central Data Team is to support the planning, management, growth and use of user data across our 100+ brands, in web, email, transactional, advertising and social activities. Enabling stakeholders to maximise data-driven revenues across our titles, channels and platforms.
We are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic Data Engineer to join our Data Team. To own, develop and optimise the provision of Business Insight and Reporting across departments using our BI platform, R scripts and statistics.
The relevant candidate should have previous experience programming in R; Python would be an advantage, have good exposure to web analytic technologies such as Google Analytics and have designed end to end data solutions that drive comprehensive digital commercial insights that support business decisions.
You will be accustomed to surfacing data via API’s, transforming this data into analysis friendly assets and piping this data to backend BigData technologies such as BigQuery or Amazon Redshift.
You will also have plenty of experience developing BigData queries and wrangling these results into highly effective insights that aid the decision making and commercial monitoring processes at all business levels.
You will use our BI Platform, Looker, as the primary Business Intelligence platform. You will curate end user reports using ‘LookML’ - Looker’s language for describing dimensions, aggregates, calculations and data relationships.
Full training will be provided on our BI tool, our data pipeline and on a data science skill-set. As such there will be exposure to advanced analytics, machine learning and automated analytical model building.
Full support will be provided as you ramp up but you will have autonomy when leading projects.
You will need to be a problem solver with a flexible attitude to managing projects, and senior stakeholder engagement.
Help build out Bauer’s cloud based infrastructure and pipelines. Integrating more data and surfacing it into our business intelligence tool that supports Xcel products, services and brands.
Own, support & develop our internal Ad Revenue Platform for the Ad Operations team.
Provide in depth analysis of company performance metrics, and use this data to suggest and implement optimisation strategies.
Collaborate with commercial, editorial, dev-ops, revenue and product teams in producing valuable tools and insight.
Work with our Lead Data Scientist to produce statistical models around prediction, recommendation, optimisation and classification.
