Content Director of Magic Radio Network

Job Introduction

We are looking for a senior creative leader who can inspire the award-winning Magic team to win new audiences in new ways. By using your extensive experience in the radio industry, excellent contacts with talent agents, and wide-ranging relationships with the music industry, you will collaborate with your colleagues across our portfolio of stations in UK, to grow audiences on every platform.

Having a passion for radio, an ease with talent, and a successful track record of turning creative ideas into entertaining content is essential. You will also have previous experience of leading teams who are knowledgeable in how music radio is currently made and consumed on audio, social, and video platforms.

You must be knowledgeable in the music played across the Magic network, and you’ll have exciting as well as challenging ideas about the opportunities Magic must implement to continue to engage our listeners with new and catalogue artists.

Understanding the strengths of music radio for commercial partners is also key to this role, as is the ability to see new ways of creating content that will enhance the work we do with our sponsorship and promotion teams to deliver compelling activity for both audiences and clients. 

Reporting to the Chief Content and Music Officer you’ll be continuing to bring the existing Magic teams to collaborate more across the Bauer UK portfolio on projects and new initiatives. You’ll be confident leading a team through change and bring your experience to inspire and encourage people to think and work in new ways.

Role Responsibility

  • Lead and inspire teams to work collaboratively on projects and new initiatives that fulfil the company’s objective to win new audiences in new ways
  • Analyse latest RAJAR results and identify areas of focus/opportunities for growth
  • Create new ways of working around the production and delivery of radio shows and content
  • Manage the editorial compliance of the output
  • Build and lead a team of on-air talent and producers to create market leading radio for the target audience
  • Work closely with the sponsorship and promotions teams to deliver compelling on-air activity for both audiences and clients
  • Implement station premium-rate contesting whilst ensuring the highest levels of compliance are executed

The Ideal Candidate

  • Senior Leader with proven success at leading complex teams
  • Experience of working with high profile presenting or performing talent
  • Experience of working at a radio station, music label or digital platform
  • Creating, developing, and delivering complex projects with many stakeholders
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and uncertainty in a rapidly changing environment
  • Open minded willingness to learn and evolve.
  • Forward thinking and innovative mindset capable of spotting and exploiting new opportunities
  • Strong interpersonal and influencer skills able to work collaboratively and effectively across teams
