Commercial Content Editor – Maternity Cover
Planning, creating and monitoring of affiliate-led content across Bauer’s portfolio of affiliate focused websites, including managing a team of affiliate content writers who also create revenue-generating content. The Commercial Content Editor supported by two Deputy Editors and an editorial assistant will ensure that the work of the team is of the highest-possible standard and generates the maximum possible revenue for the brands.
Bauer is committed to affiliate marketing as a key commercial growth sector and has recently funded considerable investment in growing the team. The Affiliate team has been achieving significant revenue growth over the past 2 years and this role will be key to continuing that growth in the coming months and into 2022.
You will be:
- Planning affiliate content on a weekly and quarterly basis; communicating those plans to the team and the wider group of stakeholders.
- Planning affiliate-led events content around either brand-specific or general events (Black Friday, Christmas, etc)
- Writing flagship affiliate content.
- Editing affiliate copy to ensure it is of high standard and generates the maximum possible revenue.
- Working closely with the product team to monitor performance of affiliate content.
- Working with the SEO team to ensure affiliate content is updated on schedule, to maximise search rankings.
The Ideal Candidate
What you will bring:
- High quality writing skills, creating copy for commercial purposes (e.g. retailing)
- High-quality copy-editing skills, in particular editing copy for multiple brands
- People management skills
- Ability to create short- and long-term content plans
- Analytical skills, including understanding conversion rates
- Traffic generation skills, including on-page SEO

The Affiliate team are leading Bauer’s investment in the monetisation of its web content via the exciting and increasingly important affiliate revenue channel. Responsible for the creation of new, and optimisation of existing content across several of Bauer’s most important sites including; Heatworld, Closer, Empire, Mother & Baby, Parkers, MCN, and What’s the Best. The team are constantly exploring content and commercial strategies to maximise engagement and revenues. The editorial teams content strategy is service journalism; they continually source, research and review products that our audiences will be interested in buying. We look to support savvy shoppers with the best of everything from beauty products to wireless headphones and smart TVs to plant subscription boxes.
