Reporting to Head of Communications, Bauer UK Audio
This role sits within the Communications team of Bauer Media Audio UK and works closely with the Head of Communications for Bauer Media Audio UK, communications assistants and brand Marketing and Content teams.
The focus of the role
This role will support the Bauer Media Audio UK communications team in working across national radio brands Magic Radio, Scala Radio and Absolute Radio.
You will oversee all press office activity for the brands, including but not limited to; presenter interview pitching, seeding show and guest interview content to media and drafting and issuing press releases for events, presenter appointments and other notable brand activity.
Consistently generating creative ideas, you will proactively put forward suggestions of PR initiatives to raise the profile of the brands in the media, reaching relevant audiences. Creating moments to allow our stations to stand out from the crowd and highlight their strength and distinctiveness, you will also be constantly looking for topical opportunities for our brands to engage in to drive further PR.
You will work with the brand teams to execute well-rounded campaigns, amplifying show content and marketing strategies. You will ensure all campaigns are highly relevant and planned to achieve maximum impact, are well targeted and achieve high levels of reach and engagement.
Working alongside the Head of Communications and the brand marketing teams, you will help develop long-term development plans for the stations with a focus on using communications strategies to build audiences.
Leveraging a strong network of press contacts, you will ensure that the business identifies and builds on its relationships with external media and influencers, as well as working with Bauer’s owned publishing brands to amplify any relevant station content.
The role will be responsible for fielding incoming press enquiries and liaising with relevant brand leaders to seek input and approval, alongside the Head of Communications.
You will be responsible for monitoring and circulating press coverage, delegating to communications assistants to collate coverage on a daily and monthly basis.
As required, you will work with Head of Communications on celebrity invites and media guest lists for key brand events.
Reviewing and highlighting highly shareable station content that can be amplified through press placement.
Proactively generating PR opportunities that will raise the profile of the brands amongst desired audiences.
Devise news-worthy moments and campaigns, working alongside marketing and content teams.
Building the profile of presenters and shows through highly targeted multi-platform interview opportunities, ensuring that talent are fully briefed in order to land key messages.
Drafting and issuing all communications materials, including schedule updates, presenter appointments, special programmes, event announcements etc.
Responding to all media enquiries and sharing regular coverage updates.
The Ideal Candidate
We’re looking for a creative forward-thinker with excellent media contacts and an eye for spotting news-worthy content. You’ll ideally be:
- A media professional with proven experience across consumer communications. Experience in social media and/or trade and internal communications is a plus.
- You’ll be adaptable and able to manage a large and varied workload, effortlessly prioritising tasks and delegating to communications assistants as required.
- You’ll have a fantastic understanding of the media landscape with excellent communication skills – verbal and written. You will have a strong multi-platform contacts book, and superb relationships with UK press across print, digital, TV and social.
- You’ll be a creative thinker with proven experience of proactively generating PR ideas and putting them into action
- You’ll be able to produce accurate work when under the pressure of tight deadlines, absorb knowledge and information quickly as well as being a natural problem-solver.
- You will have experience of successfully integrating PR in conjunction with Marketing activity and be able to innovative and develop ground-breaking PR activities which get our brands and presenters talked about.
- While a background in radio is not essential, a good level of knowledge of the radio and music industry would be an advantage, as well as good press contacts amongst outlets covering the music genres our stations play (i.e classical for Scala Radio).
